Title:  Automatic Design of Metaheuristic Algorithms for Solving Real World Application Problems
Abstract: This talk will introduce the automatic design of metaheuristic algorithms for solving real world application problems. First, a real world application problem, i.e., power system restoration problem, will be used as an example for illustration. The power system restoration problem will be represented as an optimization problem, which usually is difficult to solve mathematically. Second, the reasons for the necessity of utilizing metaheuristic algorithms to solve these optimization problems and the difficulty of selecting a suitable existing metaheuristic algorithm and tuning of its corresponding parameters will be discussed, which leads to the necessity of automatic design of the metaheuristic algorithm for solving the power system restoration problem. Third, the automatic design method will be introduced in detail, followed by experimental results on some benchmark problems to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed design method.
